Archery & shotgun: april 13 - may 31

We offer hunts for big Merriam’s and rio grande Gobblers on our exclusive leases in the beautiful mountains of southern colorado and the cottonwood creeks and river bottoms of the eastern plains. Hunts are scheduled during the peak hunting / calling weeks, usually the last 2 weeks of April and the first two weeks of May. Our properties provide excellent turkey habitat, food sources, water, and hold large populations of birds. We minimize THE harvest of turkeys in order to provide you with high-percentage opportunities. Our goal, as with all OUR OTHER hunts, is to ENSURE THAT YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL.

AT SHHC WE OFFER TWO SPRING TURKEY HUNT PACKAGES. A FULLY-GUIDED HUNT AND A SEMI-GUIDED HUNT. FOR OUR FULLY-GUIDED HUNTS, WE ASK OUR HUNTERS TO ARRIVE THE EVENING PRIOR TO THEIR HUNT. ONCE YOU ARRIVE YOU CAN CHECK IN WHERE YOU'RE STAYING AND THEN WE CAN GRAB DINNER TO DICUSS THE PLAN FOR THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE DAYS OF YOUR HUNT. OUR HUNTS ARE TYPICALLY PERFORMED WITH CALLING AND DECOY SETUPS, ALTHOUGH, ADDITIONAL SETUPS AND HUNTING METHODS MAY BE USED TO ACCOMMODATE OTHER SITUATIONS.

THE SECOND HUNT OPTION IS A SEMI-GUIDED HUNT WHERE WE ASK OUR HUNTERS TO ARRIVE BETWEEN 3:00 AND 4:00 PM THE DAY PRIOR TO THE HUNT. HUNTERS WILL CHECK IN WHERE THEY'RE STAYING AND WILL THEN BE PICKED UP BY ONE OF OUR GUIDES. FROM THERE YOU WILL BE ESCORTED TO ONE OF OUR PROPERTIES TO SCOUT FOR MATURE TOMS TO BE HUNTED THE FOLLOWING MORNING. ONCE YOU HAVE A LAY OF THE LAND YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN TO PERSUE BIRDS AT YOUR LEISURE. ALTHOUGH THIS IS SEMI-GUIDED, WE WILL BE AROUND TO ASSIST YOU IF NEEDED.

IN MOST INSTANCES, COLORADO IS A ONE BIRD STATE UNLESS YOU HAVE POINTS AND CAN DRAW AN ADDITIONAL SPRING TURKEY LICENSE. LICENSES FOR OUR AREAS CAN BE PURCHASED OVER-THE-COUNTER UPON YOUR ARRIVAL.
